Making cricket possible
DP World has been raising its profile in India by associating with the game of cricket through different partnerships, one of which is the Beyond Boundaries initiative. The idea behind the initiative was to make cricket possible for everyone by distributing cricket kits and equipment to clubs across the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 using DP World’s network and smart logistics capabilities. DP World had committed to deliver 10 kits for every 100 runs scored which resulted in over 2000 kits being pledged through this initiative.
GPJ India collaborated with partner agencies to repurpose three shipping containers. The containers had the capacity to hold 250 kits each including bats, helmets, gloves and pads. The interior was remodeled to resemble a dressing room while the exterior was set up with an in-built scorecard and a pavilion with a sun shade where players could rest. A colorful mural on the container paid homage to the legacy of Sachin Tendulkar.
The containers were stationed at key locations in Mumbai, Chennai and Ahmedabad to encourage grassroots cricket clubs and provide a secure changing area during practice.
DP World’s brand ambassador Sachin Tendulkar and cricketer Ravi Shastri distributed the kits in Mumbai and Chennai, while BCCI Secretary Jay Shah distributed the kits to women cricketers in Ahmedabad. The company has delivered 750 kits to date, including 250 in Chennai.
